Naromoru Chogoria route

Day 1: Nairobi – Mount Kenya

We will pick you up upon arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi or from your hotel. After a short briefing, you will start your safari towards central part of Kenya where Mount Kenya lies. You will check-in for lunch at Misty Mountain Lodge at the foothills of Mount Kenya. After lunch you can sample various activities that include horse riding, biking, and nature walks.

Day 2: Mount Kenya

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Naro Moru gate from where you begin the climb accompanied by your Mountain guide and potters who carry your backpack. This route approaches the mountain from the west and is the quickest to the summit. Your guide sets a leisure pace for the relaxing trek up on the mountain to help you acclimatize and enjoy the fascinating vegetation with its rich animal and birdlife. Packed lunch is provided en route. After about three hours you arrive at Met Station to spend the night in the log cabins at an altitude of 3,050 meters.

Day 3: Mount Kenya

After breakfast, you hike past the forest line to moorland zone covered by tussock grass, past the heater’s zone, into the Teleki Valley and onto the highest crest of the ridge. This vantage point gives you an excellent view of Mount Kenya peaks. Packed lunch is provided en route. You will walk about 4-6 hours on this day and spent the night at makindas camp at 4200 meters.

Day 4: Mount Kenya

A pre-dawn start ensures a successful summit bid in time for a clear view of the breathtaking scenery after sunrise. With the help of your guide, you ascend for about 4-5 hours to Point Lenana at 4985 meters.  After celebrating this achievement, descend down to Shipton Camp for breakfast. Descent further down to Old Moses Camp for overnight.

All meals included. Dinner and overnight at Old Moses Camp.

Day 5: Mount Kenya – Samburu

After breakfast, you continue descending to Sirimon gate of Mount Kenya National Park where you meet your safari driver-guide. He will take you along the northern side of Mount Kenya with a stopover for lunch at a designated restaurant on the way. After lunch you will proceed to Samburu National reserve and check-in at Ashnil Samburu luxury camp where you freshen up and relax.

Day 6: Samburu National Reserve

Begin the day with an early morning game drive. You have the best chances to see big cats, elephants, The Samburu special 5; that is, Gravy Zebra, Somali Ostrich, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, and Reticulated Giraffe. Mid-morning is time to visit the Samburu villages and sample their culture. After lunch you can relax and resume game drives in the evening.

All meals included. Dinner and overnight at Ashnil Samburu Camp.

Day 7: Samburu – Nairobi

You will have an early morning game drive and return to the camp for breakfast. Leave thereafter for Nairobi with lunch in a designated restaurant on the way. The expected arrival time is 1800hrs.

Sirimon Chogoria Route

Day 1: After the safari, briefing drive North past Nanyuki town to Mt. Kenya Sirimon Park Gate where the hiking start.  You will have a brief stopover in Nanyuki for shopping and lunch and pick your porters and guides. You will hike to Old Moses (3300m).

Day 02: After an early breakfast you will ascend to Shiptons Camp (4,200m) via Mackinder’s Valley with picnic lunch en route arriving at Shiptons Camp late afternoon.

Meals and overnight:  Shiptons Huts/ Camp (FB)

Day 03: After breakfast, we will hike around the peak through Hausberg valley to Two Turns Huts via western terminal to Mackinda’s camp in Tereki Valley where you will have lunch and time at leisure. You can also decide to camp at American camp at the base of point John.

Day 04: You will have a leisurely breakfast and later on hike up to Austrian Hut (4,750m). You will have lunch at Austrian Hut and later enjoy the sceneries from the top hut as you explore the surrounding

Day 05: An early attempt climbs to point Lenana (4,985m).  On clear day you will be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro in the south. After the summit, you will trek down the Gorges Valley to Mintos hut ((4,300m).) for a full breakfast and rest. Later in the afternoon after lunch, you will explore the Gorges valley as well as Halls tarn Weather permitting.

Day 06: Soon after breakfast, you further descend to Meru Mt. Kenya Bandas (2,800m) via Vivian Fall and Nithi Fall with en route lunch at Road Head. There is a bar and here you will have a beer with your porters and guide. It’s a celebration time having conquered the mountain.

Day 07: You will have leisure taken breakfast and later you hike down through Chogoria forest and meet with your 4×4 pickup vehicle halfway for a drive to Chogoria town for a lunch. After lunch you will be driven back to Nairobi arriving late afternoon for a drop off at the airport or at your hotel.

Chogoria Sirimon Route

Day 01: You will be picked by our representative on arrival at the airport from your Nairobi hotel for a drive to Chogoria town. At Chogoria, you will pick your Mountain guide, cook and porter and do some shopping. You will also have lunch. Later proceed with a vehicle through the forest to a drop of point where you will start your hike. A 4×4 vehicle will be required on this stretch. On arrival at the gate, you will check-in at your bandas or camp. As your cook prepare dinner.

Day 02: You will start your day at 0700hrs by ascending the Chogoria trail up to  road-head when you divert to Mugi Hills 3541m for acclimatization ascent and descend to Lake Ellis. Lunch will be en route while dinner and overnight at Ellis Campsite

Day 03: After breakfast, you will start a gradual hike to Minto/Hall tarn camp at 4300m for overnight. Lunch will be served en route as this is a 7-8hrs trek. Upon arrival, there are very picturesque points of interest to see including hall tarn, the Gorges

Day 04: 0400hrs, you will have a morning tea and some snacks as you head out to attempt Pt.Lenana. This pre-dawn attempt is the most rewarding experience for those who make it to the summit in time for the sunrise. Later after sunrise, you will descend to Mackinder camp 4200m for overnight (5hrs) for breakfast and the rest of the day at Leisure.

Day 05: 0800hrs, after breakfast, depart for a summit circuit via Hausberg Col. to Shiptons Camp for an early lunch. Later descend leisurely to Old Moses Camp for overnight (7 hrs).

Meals and overnight: Old Moses Camp.


Day 06: You will have a walk through the Sirimon forest to connect with your transfer vehicle at Sirimon gate (3 hrs). You will drive to Nanyuki town where you will say goodbye to the guide and porters and thereafter have lunch. You will then proceed to Nairobi arriving in the early evening for a drop off at your pick up point or be transferred to the airport for your onward flight.

Sirimon Route

Day 01: You will be picked from the airport on arrival or your Nairobi hotel and processed through the rich agricultural highlands of central Kenya to Nanyuki. On arrival in Nanyuki you will have lunch and meet your team of porters and guides.  After lunch and some shopping, you will be transferred to Sirimon Gate where the climbing starts. Walk through the rain forest for 9kms (3-4 hrs) to the first mountain hut, old Moses (3,300 m).

Day 02: After breakfast at old Moses, continue climbing trough Mackinder’s valley to the second hut, Shiptons hut (4,200m) for dinner and overnight.  Picnic lunch will be provided at the picnic rocks along the Valle

Day 03: You will have a full day of rest. You can do a circuit tour of the main peaks or visit the caves as well as touring the base of the peaks where technical climbing starts. You can also decide to have a rest at the camp. All meals will be at the camp. This will be an acclimatization day to give you more chances of making to the summit of point Lenana.

Day 04: Early in the morning, 0300am start, you will climb to point Lenana 4,985 ( 17,058ft) .On a very clear day you should see Mt Kilimanjaro in the south.Mt Elgon to the west. You will descend to Shiptons camp for breakfast and soon after descend to old Moses camp with picnic lunch en route and Likii North River.

Day 05: After breakfast, transfer from old Moses to catch transport to the gate. You will have an early lunch in Nanyuki before proceeding to Nairobi where the tour ends with a drop of at the airport or at your pick up point.
